The information presented in the Epi Database® is the result of an exhaustive data collection and data evaluation process. Data sources include juried scientific articles, national datasets, and reports from private organizations. Each data source is evaluated by a trained epidemiologist using a rigorous and objective process. The highest quality data are selected, analyzed, and compiled into detailed written reports and data spreadsheets. The output of the Epi Database® includes a matrix of age- and gender-specific incidence and prevalence estimates, many broken out into more detailed subcategories. In addition, sources used in the construction of the epidemiological profile are presented and hot-linked to PubMed. A well-documented written report, containing background information and a detailed methodology section, is included for each indication. Finally, links to other Web sites are included for further exploration. Each epidemiological indication is reviewed periodically to ensure its currency and accuracy. New indications and updates are added on a quarterly basis. Clients are notified of updates and additions to the Epi Database® via messages appearing on the log-in page.
